Merline "Sally" Tanner

Born and raised in the historic town of San Augustine, Merline Tanner's journey to Houston shortly after her high school graduation signified the beginning of her pursuit for a brighter future. Establishing herself in the corporate world, she dedicated an impressive five decades with Travelers, showcasing her unwavering commitment and determination.

Life in Houston wasn't just about career accomplishments; it was also where Merline's heart found its home with her beloved husband, David. Their bond was one that exemplified true partnership, filled with shared joys, dreams, and adventures.

Upon retirement, Merline and David chose the serene landscapes of Sunrise Beach Village as their haven. But for Merline, retirement wasn’t an end, but a new chapter of service. Deeply moved by the innocence of furry friends, she dedicated many years as a volunteer at the local dog shelter, making a difference in the lives of countless canines.

The call to serve was strong in Merline’s heart. Hence, when the opportunity arose, she joined forces with her sister, Helen, and niece, Robbie Gail, in their philanthropic endeavor - The Charette Foundation. Her innate sense of empathy, combined with an unwavering spirit, made her a cornerstone of the foundation.
