Nurturing Families at Michael M. Owsley Memorial Playgrounds and Prayer Garden
Discover the heartwarming tale behind the inception of The Charette Foundation. Nestled within Brenham’s Fireman’s Park, the Michael M. Owsley Memorial Playgrounds and Prayer Garden came to life in 2015, igniting the very spark that led to the creation of our foundation.
A tribute to the cherished memory of Michael M. Owsley, this haven of joy and reflection was conceived as a testament to his enduring legacy. Michael, a devoted husband to Robbie Gail Charette, shared an unwavering passion for the well-being of children. Their shared journey was one of love and abundance, a life fully lived. When Michael's journey on this earth reached its end, Robbie Gail, embarked on a mission to honor his spirit.
The idea took root – a playground and prayer garden to immortalize the love, laughter, and care that Michael bestowed upon his community. A place for families to flourish, where children's laughter mingles with the serenity of prayer. This visionary tribute embodies the very essence of The Charette Foundation.
In imagining this haven, we are certain that if Michael were among us today, he would revel in the joy and camaraderie that this playground brings to our community. His spirit lives on through every smile, every shared moment, and every family enriched by the legacy of love that defines the Michael M. Owsley Memorial Playgrounds and Prayer Garden.
"Covered, clean and peaceful playground right next to the library! My 4 year old loves coming here. And his service pal can be close by in the shade."
"Great park! Double shaded so the equipment isn't hot, and even with it being 106° outside, standing under the shade isn't bad. Good for little kids, and older kids too. Trains passing by on a hill behind the park was an added bonus that the kids loved!"
"Fantastic place for kids to play around under the shade! Great even during the summer heat!!!"
